Violin Making Workbook

Patina

The label is glued in to the back of the instrument parallel to the center seam, with its supero-lateral corner even with and 4mm proximal to the center of the C bout. It is glued in prior to adding any color to the inside of the instrument, but after it has been in the light box and treated with ammonia fumes.

I have been a violin maker for 43 years and I am proud of the reputation I have built. I am especially proud of the fact that many of today's most well known musicians have acquired multiple instruments of mine over the years; affirming the fact that not only do my instruments retain their sound quality but that they improve with time.
